Surgical Inflammation Induces Hepcidin Production after Abdominal Surgery

Conclusions  Like other inflammatory markers, an increase in the level of hepcidin (i.e., a hepcidin storm) occurs in the acute phase after
gastrectomy, colectomy, hepatectomy, and surgery for diffuse peritonitis.
